I had a fairly serious back pain issue that migrated to my hip and affected my ability to walk or even get out of bed. After a few days(my mistake) of pain meds I made my way to Dr. Tanti. You probably know how much my motorcycle – a 2015 BMW R1200RT - means to me. After all, I have ridden over 88,000kms on it since I bought it in 2015…

But a while ago, I had some serious concerns regarding my lower back that made me wonder if my ability to ride was at the end…

I had organized a ride, and the day before we were to leave I bent over to do something, and my back went. I didn’t know what I had done, just that it wasn’t good. At all.

The ride I had planned was definitely out as I couldn’t even get the bike off the stand. 

I emailed everyone to let them know I was sidelined and told them to have a great time. I remember wondering “Will I be able to ride any more this summer?”

I was riding again after the first treatment. No pain immediately after the adjustment (although I felt a bit like a pretzel afterwards…)

I was asked if I would write a little something… something that will definitely make your life easier and of course I said YES!

Hi there, my name is Patricia Stransky. You and I have never met, but we probably have a lot in common when it comes to our health. Things like:

Not a “one size fits all” chiropractor

I hope you’re doing well.

I am and that’s actually the reason for this letter.

Lately, I’ve been feeling really good.

Years ago, starting when my car was rear-ended, I wasn’t doing so well.

I had never liked the idea of going to a chiropractor, I had heard too many stories. I was convinced that chiropractic adjustments weren't for me.

The car accident left me no choice. I was in pain. So I chose a chiropractor that was just a few doors from the office and I went for an adjustment. I would like to tell you it worked out. It did not.

I tried numerous other chiropractors but the treatment protocols they used felt too aggressive for me and I wasn’t getting results.

Eventually, someone recommended a chiropractor that had cared for a few of the Vancouver Canucks. HE listened, explained his recommendations and made sure I was comfortable with the treatment plan BEFORE proceeding. I was VERY happy and my body was feeling the results.

Then I moved to Edmonton…

I tried a few different chiropractors and the results were disappointing.  A few seemed to have poor listening skills and I actually walked out on one in the middle of the session. That doctor was not listening to me and my body was not reacting well to what felt like aggressive adjustments. 

It took a while but I finally found a good local chiropractor that I was very happy with. That is, happy until he retired.

Luckily, I heard about, and tried, Dr. Joe Tanti. 

I said “yes” to Dr. Tanti and I’ve never looked back. In fact, it’s been amazing.

So much so that Dr. Joe is the reason for this letter.

If you have chronic pain and you’re not seeing the results your body needs, you owe it to yourself to give Dr. Tanti a try.

If you’re like me, you’ll likely notice the difference immediately. First, Dr. Joe is not a “one size fits all” chiropractor, he approaches you as the individual you are. He listens and wants to know your story and will dig into your “why” and get to know “who” you are.

Because he took the time to understand ME and learn what I needed him to do, I found his treatments both gentle and effective. There’s nothing scary with what he does.

At the end of each session, before I leave, Dr. Tanti does a few more small checks just to make sure “I’m good.” 

I can tell he listens because he revisits what I said when I arrived and he makes sure all my questions and concerns have been answered. In fact, Dr. Tanti has taken time to speak with me on the phone when I was unable to make it to the office.

One last thing…

Recently, I began getting Shockwave treatments on my shoulder. The Shockwave treatments themselves can be very uncomfortable (less so after each treatment), but it’s been worth it because my shoulder mobility is so much better. I’m glad Dr. Tanti suggested it.

I’m grateful to have Dr. Joe as my chiropractor.

P.S. Terry is seeing Dr. Tanti now too. His wrist pain had been getting worse (and his golf scores were suffering lol) so I suggested he see Dr. Tanti about Shockwave for his wrists. Now, Terry’s left wrist is 90% pain-free and the right about 80% pain-free. Not only are Terry’s golf scores improving, but Terry can again use his wrists to do things he had not been able to do in some time. The Shockwave treatments have really worked for both of us.

When Dr. Redpath retired, I stayed with the clinic and Dr. Tanti became my chiropractor.  Although I didn’t have a specific pain issue, I indicated that my practise is to go to my chiropractor every five to six weeks for some preventive procedures to ensure my back and sciatic nerve don’t become painful.  At our first meeting I explained the reason for the appointment and Dr. Tanti understood what I wanted.  He has also advised me about the GLAD Canada program (that is administered by a physiotherapist), which has been helpful for managing my osteoarthritis knee pain. We have been receiving chiropractic services for more than thirty years and consider ourselves most fortunate to have been referred to Dr Tanti following the retirement of our original chiropractor, “Dr. Bob” about six months ago.

Our first appointment with Dr. Tanti (who we now call “Dr. Joe”) included a “meet and greet”: he learned about the state of our health and what we hoped to receive from our chiropractor. At first I was skeptical

Dr. Tanti took over Dr. Redpath's practice. At first I was skeptical of this young Dr. however, after my first session all doubt disappeared. He made sure I was OK with every move he was going to make

I first went to see Dr. Tanti after I hurt my. Back falling on ice.  I saw my. Doctor first and x rays. Showed arthritic changes. But no obvious injury. Muscle relaxants and aarti-inflammatories did not really help.

I was afraid of chiropractic due to an issue many years ago, but had to try something.

Dr. Tanti knew I was afraid and explained everything extremely well. He made sure I was OK with every move he was going to make.

The initial appointment was amazing! I could hardly walk or sit going in and was so much better leaving. On the follow-up appointment Dr. Tanti noticed that I walked with a limp and asked about it. He asked if he could try working on my feet and ankles. After 3 1/2 years or limp after rupturing my left Achilles, I no longer limp after a few treatments.

I have since gone back to see him for treatment after breaking my. arm. He treats my whole body-back, shoulder, wrist, and feet, and not just my arm as my physiotherapist was. Healing my arm and keeping me walking!

Before long, I was back to work and back to life.

Doctors had said that I would have to ‘live with it’

Highly recommend! I had went in to see him for some back/neck pain (which he fixed right up!) and had mentioned some daily foot pain from an injury I sustained a few years prior. I didn’t think this was something that could ever be helped, as the doctors had said that I would have to ‘live with it’ and could use cortisone shots to help numb the pain. Dr. Tanti was extremely thorough and suggested shockwave therapy to try and help repair the injury. I was skeptical, but figured it couldn’t hurt to try! 3 shockwave treatments later and I my foot pain has been GREATLY reduced and I go days without noticing any pain at all. It continues to feel better every day and I am so grateful that he was able to help, especially when doctors weren’t able to. HIGHLY recommend Dr. Tanti!

It would last anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours and I couldn’t find relief on my own. I was even sensitive to cold or hot when I ate or drank, the pain would radiate from my tooth into my jaw and up past my temple. It was excruciating. Dr. Tanti adjusted my jaw and I felt relief almost immediately. The episodes were less frequent and less intense. After 2 visits a few weeks apart, the pain was 90% gone. After several months of monthly visits, my jaw feels great and my tooth is much less sensitive to hot or cold. If you are suffering from TMJ, get an appointment with this very helpful doctor. My only regret is that I didn’t go see him sooner when the episodes originally started. I am now aware of when i’m clenching my jaw and try to avoid excessive chewing, and i keep up with my maintenance appointments to avoid unnecessary discomfort. Thankyou!!!

 I said f-it, I’ll try this out.

I used to get tension headaches all the time and have fairly regular lower back pain. One of my headaches progressed into a terrible migraine that would not go away and no amount of meds was getting rid of the pain. I don’t like going to the doctor for anything but I said f-it, I’ll try this out. My pain drastically decreased after my first visit and was almost completely gone after another follow up. Dr. Tanti is a true professional that cares about your well-being. I came to Joseph Tanti because of my headaches, decreased movement of my neck to the left side and difficulties with shoulder check while driving. After only two visits I am back to normal 🙂 Dr Tanti did detailed assessment, listened thoroughly to what i said and not only focused on my spine but also fixed my jaw issues I had from as far as i can remember! I came to Dr. Tanti with a long list of issues: pain in my lower back, neck, left knee and right foot. He spent the time listening to all my problems and to my surprise, he said he could help me with all of these. Dr. Joe is a very competent professional! I just had my second session with him and I felt an enormous difference since the first one. Before I see him, even walking was painful on my knees, hips and shoulders and I could barely exercise properly at the gym. After my first session with him, I went to the gym and I burned 400cal in 50min, and the whole time I felt no pain at all. He also gave me amazing tips on how to improve my movements and made me aware of what was going on and why. Which gave me comfort and confidence on my day to day activities.

 I went in for nerve pain on the left side of my neck, through my shoulder blade and down my left arm. Great communication in discussing the problem, the history with that shoulder (prior injuries) and explaining the treatment program. Exercises were added to those that I already do and a phased program of treatment agreed to. After the 2nd session there was noticeable improvement and it was my decision to add 2 follow up sessions just to confirm that the problem was solved. After the first treatment I received an email in the evening asking how I was feeling and if there was any discomfort from the treatment.
