By the end of this, you will know if  Low Level Laser Therapy is right for you.

What does Low Level Laser Therapy  do?

Low Level Laser Therapy therapy is also known as simply, Laser. It utilizes light energy  to stimulate the body's natural healing process and promote tissue regeneration. What makes laser unique from normal light, is that Laser is monochromatic (one single wave length), directional and coherent. This compared to normal light which is divergent, incoherent and often multi chromatic.

Low Level Laser Therapy has been found to have different effects on body tissue different wave lengths. There is a 'therapeutic range", typically between 600nm to 1100 nm.

The wave length determines what the Low Level Laser Therapy does to the body. The power (Wattage) determines how fast it does it. It is called "Low Level" because it delivers less than 500 mW per cm2. These are classified as either Class 1, Class 2, Class 3a or 3b Laser. Class 4 lasers produce over 500 mW per cm2.

The treatment involves the precise application of the Laser Applicator to the injured area. The Laser then penetrates  into the tissues initiating a cascade of biological changes.

The way it does this is by acting at the cellular level. It works at the mitochondria, the powerhouse of our cells. This stimulates the body's natural healing response. This kickstarts a cascade of biological processes that lead to healing and tissue repair.

It makes your cells function at a higher capacity.

The fascinating thing withLow Level Laser Therapy is that it doesn’t feel like a thing! It is completely pain free.

Safety and Side Effects of Low Level Laser Therapy

Shockwave therapy is very safe. However, there are some situations where it is contraindicated.

  1. 1
Pregnancy: Due to the limited research on the effects of shockwave therapy during pregnancy, we avoid shockwave therapy while pregnant. Lets be honest, pregnant women can’t have ALOT of medications or therapies, and shockwave is one of them.: Individuals with blood clotting disorders or those taking blood-thinning medications may be at an increased risk of bleeding or hematoma formation at the treatment site.
  2. 2
Cancer: Cancer is a terrible disease, characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of cells. The last thing we want to do is to give these cancerous cells more energy!
